I am obsessed with red lips-- they're so classy. I love how bold they are. Someone with red lips is not someone who can easily be forgotten or overlooked.

For a long time, I only associated red lips with pale skin and dark hair, as a sort of throw-back to Old Hollywood, or a modern-day Snow White. I thought these women looked gorgeous, but I thought it was something that strictly worked on those whose skin could add the contrast, for the extra wow factor.

But then last summer, I was watching Say Yes to the Dress, and a brides-to-be's younger sister was rocking red lips, though her skin was more of an olive tone. And then something clicked in my brain. All I could think about was how good she looked with red lips.
I also realized how completely stupid my notion was, because come on. I'm pretty sure every girl could rock a red lip if she found the right shade.

And then I became obsessed with the idea of red lips. I googled pictures to save to my computer, reblogged pictures on Tumblr, researched the best shades for my skin tone, and how to wear it...
But I have a confession: I've only actually tried once (I was playing with my mom's makeup), and I wiped it off immediately because I looked like a clown.

But still, I'm absolutely obsessed with the idea. Even if I did find the perfect shade and figured out how to apply it, and I don't know that I would even know when to wear it, because it would feel too fancy for my everyday clothes.

I see bloggers and a few girls on the streets who can rock it with pretty much everything, but I feel like I would feel to awkward. Though maybe it's all a matter of confidence. I suspect it might be, since these girls own the look.
I should note that I pretty much never wear makeup. The extent of my makeup routine is putting on mascara when I want to look a little nicer. Maybe one day, I'll actually learn how to apply it...
